Raising awareness for female engineers.

Goldie Blox is a really great project that I truly stand behind. “We live in a man’s world,” or so it’s been said. This kind of ideology is so dated yet still so ingrained in our society and lifestyle. Yes, we’ve come a long way, but not far enough.

How do we change that? How do we change this perception that we live in a world run by men?  In the past, the answer has been to just throw women into the ring willy nilly.  But sometimes that’s not the most effective way to bring about change.

Debbie Sterling, Stanford graduate and San Francisco resident, tapped into exactly how to inspire the next generation of female engineers. She drew from her own life experiences, figured out the core of the issue, did plenty of research, and created this genius product catered to young girls.  She didn’t just slap some pink on the product package and leave it at that; she really focused on what qualities girls and boys were strongest and how their childhood experiences could shape their interests and skills.  This is the perfect example of how working smarter is more effective than working faster or harder.

I’m so happy to say that the Goldie Blox goal of $150,000 was fully backed w/ change to spare with a total $285,881 pledged! Pre-orders are available now and the estimated delivery date is April 2013.  Pick one up for your kids and friends!
